For the first %ufffdme, it allows pilots to guide selected ships through Danish waters without boarding them physically. Instead, the opera%ufffdon is carried out from a control center in the city of Randers %u2013 removing the most hazardous part of a pilot%u2019s job: the physical boarding of ships.%u201cRemote pilotage is not only a technological breakthrough %u2013 it is a strategic step towards safer and more sustainable shipping. We are proud to deliver the technological infrastructure that enables safe naviga%ufffdon without the physical presence of a pilot. Here, cybersecurity %u2013 a cornerstone of our technology %u2013 is a prerequisite for implemen%ufffdng the solu%ufffdon safely and at scale in the global mari%ufffdme sector,%u201d %u2013 Casper Jensen, CEO of DanelecFor the mari%ufffdme sector, remote pilotage offers significant benefits. Ships no longer need to alter course or speed to embark a pilot, which leads to lower fuel consump%ufffdon. At the same %ufffdme, the need for pilot boats is eliminated in relevant scenarios %u2013 saving both fuel and logis%ufffdcs resources without compromising opera%ufffdonal safety.During the test phase, the technology will only be used on vessels that meet specific technical requirements and only in designated waters. The solu%ufffdon is expected to be relevant for up to 10 percent of DanPilot%u2019s pilotage opera%ufffdons in Danish waters. The test is conducted in collabora%ufffdon with a range of shipping companies, including Maersk, which contributes ships opera%ufffdng in the test area.Remote pilotage is based on Danelec%u2019s technology, which collects and transmits key data from the ship %u2013 including course, speed, and posi%ufffdon %u2013 via the ship%u2019s Voyage Data Recorder (VDR). This data is transmi%ufffded in real %ufffdme to DanPilot%u2019s control center in Randers. Here, the pilot uses Danelec%u2019s so%ufffdware to analyze the informa%ufffdon and provide accurate naviga%ufffdonal guidance %u2013 without being physically present on board. The test period will last up to 18 months and include approximately 50 pilotages%u2022 Pilotage is conducted from the control center in Randers%u2022 Applies to vessels in the Ka%ufffdegat and western Bal%ufffdc Sea with a dra%ufffd under 13 meters%u2022 Carried out only during transits that do not require compulsory pilotageMARINE ELECTRONICS & NAVIGATION
