Delivered in just nine months by Damen Shipyards Group, the iceclass tug is a well-proven class especially designed and equipped for opera%ufffdons in icy waters.Named Lokys, and designated H-24, the delivery of the ice-class tug marks a milestone as the na%ufffdon upgrades its mari%ufffdme capabili%ufffdes. Measuring 30 metres in length, it has a bollard pull of almost 60 tonnes and a maximum speed of more than 13 knots. Its large working deck will also enable it to support the navy across the region in a wide range of opera%ufffdons.The ceremony was a%ufffdended by dis%ufffdnguished Lithuanian guests, including Vice-Minister of Na%ufffdonal Defence Karolis Aleksa; General Raimundas Vaik%u0161noras; Fleet Admiral Giedrius Premeneckas and Mayor of Klaip%u0117da Mr Arvydas Vaitkus. Mrs Ilona Vaitkien%u0117, spouse of the mayor, had the honour of being the godmother of Lokys.EUROPE%u2019S FIRST PURPOSE-BUILT CO%u2082 CARRIER LAUNCHEDRoyal Wagenborg and INEOS Energy celebrated the launch of Carbon Destroyer 1, Europe%u2019s first dedicated offshore CO%u2082 carrier, a pivotal advancement for cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS) under Project Greensand. The vessel, commissioned to transport liquefied CO%u2082 to offshore storage sites, a major breakthrough for Project Greensand and Carbon Capture and Storage across the EU.Lady Catherine Ratcliffe, as Godmother of the vessel, performed the tradi%ufffdonal naming ceremony, to launch the carrier at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in the Netherlands, as part of a close partnership between Royal Wagenborg and INEOS Energy.Designed for the safe and efficient transport of liquefied CO%u2082, the newly launched vessel will play a crucial role in the Greensand project in the Danish North Sea, led by INEOS Energy. This pioneering ship %u2014developed in close coopera%ufffdon with partners in the energy and shipbuilding sectors%u2014is the first of its kind to be built en%ufffdrely in Europe and tailored specifically for offshore CCS opera-%ufffdons.
