The vessel represents a significant upgrade to the UK%u2019s Dredging capacity, combining advanced technology with environmental efficiency to maintain vital shipping channels.In the ceremony, which took place in Cardiff%u2019s Roath Basin, UKD and ABP colleagues were joined by the vessel%u2019s Godmother, Rhian Lewis, the Mission to Seafarer%u2019s and shipbuilders, Damen, to name and bless the UKD Seadragon.Mark Pearson, UK Dredging%u2019s General Manager, opened the event, highligh%ufffdng the collabora%ufffdve efforts that brough the UKD Seadragon to life. Rhian Lewis delivered a hear%ufffdelt naming speech, emphasising the vessel%u2019s connec%ufffdon to mari%ufffdme heritage and the involvement of the younger genera%ufffdon in the choosing of the name. The tradi%ufffdonal champagne bo%ufffdle-smashing over the bow, symbolised good fortune and safe travels for the UKD Seadragon.STRATEGIC MARINE DELIVERS SECOND HYBRID FCB %u201cCENTUS ALESHA%u201dStrategic Marine, a global shipbuilder, has successfully delivered Centus Alesha, the second hybrid Fast Crew Boat (FCB) to Centus Marine, marking another milestone in their partnership to pioneer cleaner offshore energy support vessels. Following the debut of Malaysia%u2019s first hybrid FCB, this delivery underscores both companies%u2019 leadership in sustainable mari%ufffdme innova%ufffdon. The delivery of Centus Alesha builds on the success of the first hybrid FCB delivered in 2024 and demonstrates Centus Marine%u2019s con%ufffdnued commitment to growing a greener fleet and improving efficiency in the offshore energy sector.The vessel designed in collabora%ufffdon with Centus Marine, has been specifically designed to improve efficiency and sustainability in offshore opera%ufffdons, offering significant advantages in crew transfer to oil pla%ufffdorms. Its hybrid propulsion system reduces fuel consump%ufffdon, resul%ufffdng in lower emissions and a smaller carbon footprint.
